The Craftsman

Le Chêne Vert

Run by Marie Lourd, the pottery workshop Le Chêne Vert is an exclusive Member of Ateliers d'Art de France (the French professional fine craft federation) and boasts the label “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” (living heritage company).
We visited this workshop located in Anduze to discover its perfectly mastered technique of stamping and rope coiling combined with very fine glazes.

« Nous tentons chaque jour de mettre l’esthétique au service de l’embellissement, de promouvoir le beau. Et nous le faisons en perpétuant les savoir-faire d’une belle tradition. »

The process of rope coil pottery consists in coiling a rope around a plywood structure which gives it its rough shape. It enables to produce exceptional pieces, both in size and shape, and leaves inside the pottery the print of the rope that was used for its production.

The Object

Anduze pottery is renowned for its timeless distinctive shape. Resembling huge beakers moulded by divine hands, they were used to preserve citrus fruit.
We have appropriated them to create a table and a stool that respect the historical shape and technique. With its half-circle handles to move it around as you wish, the stool matches the small table, allowing numerous combinations outdoors as well as indoors.

Care instructions

Ceramic boasts a strong resistance to scratches and heat. The surface of your ceramic objects may be cleaned using a soft brush soaked in soapy water, before being rinsed in clear water. Metal sponges and other abrasive products are not adapted and may result in loss of shine or damage to the enamel.
