“Hands reveal the materials and the knowhow, but above all trigger emotions. I believe that our role is to express beauty… that is to say aesthetics, emotions and foremost the time
that needs to be enjoyed”

Thierry Drevelle

The story

A watercolour on the walls of the workshop caught our attention: it looked like a Ruhlmann, the famous early 20th century interior decorator.
And then, wood rods with white and black detailing, lying in a corner of the “paradise”, the workshop wood storehouse. As Thierry Drevelle explained, they had been handmade for Ruhlmann by his grandfather, Albert Daubray.
Such a perfect and auspicious coincidence gave birth to the “Ciel et Terre” Cognac casket.

The Craftsman

A member of the Grands Ateliers de France, boasting the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage) label, Ateliers Drevelle arches, presses and fashions precious wood:
not only Tulipwood, Rosewood, Sen and Palm tree, but also Yew or Swamp Oak.
Their caskets contain cigars, cognac and sometimes even jewels and perfume.

The Creation

Made from swamp oak and inlaid with the rods crafted for Ruhlmann by Albert Daubray, the grandfather, found in the “paradise”, the precious wood storehouse of the workshop, the casket opens onto the fireworks sparked by the rods and the Bourgoin Cognac flask, and closes to be replaced by the silence of beauty and simplicity.

Care instructions

As they are sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity, we advise against exposing your wood objects to important sources of heat or to direct light, in order to avoid discoloration of the wood. We recommend you to clean your wood object with a soft and dry cloth. As our wood creations have been deliberately left unvarnished, we advise against the use of any cleaning product to avoid indelible stains.
