This website is a place of initiation, an invitation to discover the Art of Life.

Its name pays tribute to the dragonfly, our universal emblem, evocative of the perpetual motion of Life. Indeed, Nature lies at the Centre of everything and brings us back to our own Centre.

Throughout my projects, I have always aspired to create and to convey this Art of Life. I wished to break with tradition in order to form today this ecosystem of well-being, while respecting Nature and its cycles, the land, the Men – farmers, artisans, artists, producers and freethinkers… – and the beautiful know-how.

Through the Domaine des Etangs, located in the Charente Limousine region, a place of Life and of well-being spread over 2,500 acres, in equilibrium between the Sky and the Earth.

Through the Collection Dragonfly, a universal and universalist collection of contemporary and ethnic art, minerals, objects and books, all channelling a message of wisdom, knowledge and heritage.

Through Créations Dragonfly, a line of objects that place the spotlight on the know-how of artisans, respectful of time and of natural resources. Through books, a selection of products and objects related to Nature and its observation, as well as specialties by local producers… which will soon complement the range.

And, today, through opening this “window”,, which will, I hope, reach your heart and your eyes, perhaps fill you with wonder, make you smile and, above all, reconnect you with the essential principles of Nature.

Rising Star, 2011

Farhad Moshiri
Acrylic, beads And crystal on canvas
196 x 140 x 8 cm

On the canvas, a whispered conversation between the infinitely big and the infinitely small. A myriad of small pearls strewn together to bring a star to life.

Farhad Moshiri has transformed the cheap material he uses into a prerequisite to the creation of his compositions. Revealing a terrestrial expression in the sight of this celestial body. Rising Star augurs a promising future, a doorway to fame. Crystal shines here and there, like ephemeral
glory. Yet, in the face of the beauty of the sky, the vanity of the world is compelled to vanish.

Farhad Moshiri has been roaming our planet since 1963. Born in Iran, he left for California during the 1979 Revolution, attended CalArts, the art school founded by Walt Disney, returned to his home country eleven years later, and now shares his life between Tehran and Paris.

As many latitudes to reflect over his work. His story revolves around round-trips and has enabled him to take a step back from himself and his origins.
Having travelled so extensively, his gaze has become mindful of the changes of scenery Iran is experiencing. The intrusions of the Zeitgeist in everyday life catch his eye. Is this successful? How does the world, with its porous delineation, seep in everywhere? This unknown factor constitutes the equation of his work. The friction he stages, with a taste for collision. He observes the imagery, the object or the popular cultural narrative through a global perspective, organizes its outcome on the canvas. Many of his pictures are made using embroidered pearls, of those that can be found in Iranian homes, except for the fact that the pattern changes. He prefers a common iconography that belongs to everyone over soulless landscapes. The handmade technique, which borders on the ornamental, like the time spent to retain an image, transforms the experience. Elevates one’s vision. Pearls, not embroidered, miraculously form Rising Star. A piece that gladly welcomes contemplation, a frequent occurrence in his work, that nonetheless takes place after an initial dazzle. Enough time for the picture to reveal itself all over again.
